The Last of What I Know: Year 1!

Dear friends,

In late April I decided to accept a job at the Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice at Berklee as their program coordinator. It's a great gig but being back in Boston after months of solitude in Maine did a number on me. So much so that I forgot to celebrate a really important milestone: The Last of What I Know EP was released a year ago!

My biggest takeaway from this EP was this: If you are waiting to do something you KNOW you're supposed to do, just start. I sat on these songs for a longgggg time, and maybe I needed to so that I could meet the producer to help me realize the sound I was looking for. Big projects can have little beginnings that start today and it is humbling and thrilling to see who steps up to support you when you take a chance on yourself.

To those of you who bought the EP or followed me on Spotify and still have these songs on rotation, THANK YOU! There's more to come as I get settled and learn a new rhythm.

And shout out to these folks who came together during a weird pre-vaccination time at the old Q Division space to record. After a long isolation period, it was good for the soul:

Dave Brophy, James Rohr, Joe McMohan, Pat DiCenso

Always with love,

Hals
